It begins, like all lives, with decisive and free steps toward adventure, in this case, an island, which he remembers as a childhood challenge.

Throughout my life, I’ve traveled through mountain ranges, deserts, and frozen lakes, and while it was the sporting aspect that took me to those places, what has ultimately transcended like a treasure is the breathtaking beauty of the ice, the thrill of adventure, and the empathy I feel for those who, at some point, shared the springboard before the jump. Preparing for and carrying out an expedition is always an arduous undertaking, both physically and mentally, a constant learning process under a perfectly calibrated mirror and a vertical light that doesn’t forgive flaws.” The feeling that this frozen world, where some of us spend so much of our lives and dreams, could be lost is unsettling. It’s also possible that exploration on Earth has ended; every last frozen corner is known. But the spirit of adventure lives on; it’s a state of mind, a different way of looking at a territory, a need.

The Ice Mirror aims to capture diverse situations, ranging from the description of an ice crystal to the memory of what it meant for a girl to witness her first snowfall, to surviving a great avalanche, or the endless view of mountains from a summit in the Pamir range. It also seeks to understand the Great Adventure through the diaries of some of the many legendary explorers who ventured into territories untouched by humankind.
